DOWNTOWNERSFANCY BRIGADE
65+ years of Philadelphia tradition. Broadway-style performances that define the Mummers Parade.

12 Championships & Counting
From our first title in 1964 to our triumphant 2026 victory, the Downtowners have defined excellence in the Fancy Brigade division.
A Legacy of Innovation Since 1959
Founded by Bill Isaacs Sr., a South Philadelphia taproom owner and Navy veteran, the Downtowners Fancy Brigade has been at the forefront of Mummers tradition for over six decades.
"In 1963, Isaacs bought a Packard automobile for $52, built a float around it, and rolled it up Broad Street — revolutionizing the entire Fancy Brigade division."
This innovation transformed a costume parade into the theatrical spectacle seen today at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, where brigades perform Broadway-style shows with elaborate scenery, choreography, and original music.
